Worms

Although people of any age can get them. Children are most susceptible with the infection and spread through the worm eggs.

CAUSES - Some are caught from food and some are infected by touching objects or surfaces with worm eggs on them - sometimes does not wash their hands.

symptoms :

• Anal itching , especially at night
• Restless sleep
• Itching in vaginal area
• Feeling irritable
• Abdominal pain

Risk Factors :

• Between the age of 5 and 10
• Sucking thumb
• Biting the nails
• Feeling irritable
• Who did not wash their hands properly

It may complicated and causes bacterial infection from scratching anal area with appendicitis and weight loss.

Preventing by washing the anal area regularly, don’t share the towels, washing the clothes in hot water and dry in high heat.

By educating the children to wash the hands after using the wash room with soap and water.

TONSILLITIS

Tonsillitis is inflammation of the tonsils and they act as filters , trapping the infection with common virus and germs by preventing the airways by infection.

symptoms :

• Red, swollen tonsils
• White or yellow coating or patches on the tonsils
• Sore throat
• Difficult or painful swelling
• Enlarged ,tender glands in the neck
• A scratching or muffled throaty voice
• Bad breath
• Stomach ache
• Neck pain or stiffness
• Head ache
• Drooling of saliva
• Painful swallowing
• Refusal to eat

Risk Factors :

• Frequent exposure to germs such as virus ,bacteria
• Affects the children between pre school age and mild teenage years

Due to the decrease of immune system after puberty the infection may usually occurs.

Prevention is to teach the child to wash his hands thoroughly and frequently . Must avoid sharing food, drinking glasses, water bottles.

By following some of the home remedies like taking bed rest, drinking warm fluids, gurgle with warm salt water, eating smooth foods.
